This is my Dad. My sister call him Daddy, and I used to call him that, but I switched over to Dad around the time I went away to college in the west. I like that I'm the only one of my siblings that calls him that regularly ... Dad just feels right to me.
I'm not sure he knows this, but he is the man I most admire in this world. He has always tried to live an honorable life and in my opinion has done so successfully. He has always, even today, set a great example of being a hard worker ... giving a honest days work for an honest days pay. He sometimes worked two jobs to provide for our family. One of the greatest things he showed me was that he loved my mother ... I sassed her once and he told me to never speak to his wife that way again ... That impacted me profoundly and now that I have a wife and family I understand why he needed to defend my mother! He loves our Heavenly Father and I know this because he has always honored his Priesthood and he has been a willing, faithful servant in fulfilling his callings. My Dad also showed me how to laugh and have fun ... our family did a lot laughing, singing and playing when we were growing up and he was usually at the center of that. And, he taught me and my sisters how to stay warm in a car without a heater ... One cold Sunday we were headed home from church in San Mateo in our Falcon station wagon and we were so cold because the heater didn't work. He told us kids that if we put our thumbs under our arm pits and flapped like chickens that we would get warm and we all did that and sure enough we got warm. I crack up at the thought of kids flapping like chickens flying down East End Road.

He has been a great Papa to my children and they love him dearly.

Thank you Dad for all of the good you've brought to my life.
I love you and the Queen loves you!

Yes sir! The Queen loves you too! I know she unnerved you the time she came to visit from Utah and screamed "Get this car moving! I need some air back here!" But you moved that car! Thank you! Thank you! Have a great Father's Day!
xoxoxo
I love him too.

My Uncle Billy is my favorite Uncle on my dad's side of my family! I remember him doing the thumb trick and chomping his teeth at us when we were little it would just amaze us and crack us up! He's a lot of fun and a great person! Happy Father's Day Uncle Billy!!
Our church always stake conference on Father's Day and we traveled to Jacksonville, then Orange Park (ten miles closer)to attend. Papa usually had traveled the 46 miles there and 46 back for several weeks before to practice the choir music for the conference. Then he had a cushy, comfy seat to listen to the talks. And the choir sounded so much better when I could hear him singing - and I could.
So this Father's Day he went to conference but he didn't sing with the choir and then after the meeting he went with about three other high priests went to the funeral home and bid farewell to a fellow high priest and temple worker and dressed him for his funeral, Brother Elmo Smith. He was my cousin Sheila's uncle, and was 95 plus years old.
Duty done, example set, he came home and waited for his Father's Day calls. He wasn't disappointed there!
I LOVE YOUR FATHER!!!
Hugs, Love & Prayers Always,

I loved this, you have a great way with words. As I look at the first photo it makes me wonder if that is where Harrison and Shelby get there eyebrows??
I love the picture with you and Eli and also the one with the homemade Chinese hat.. that's what it reminds me of!
Today is 10 June 2009 and I have just reread this tribute you have written to me. I must always try to live up to it. You mentioned my love for your Mother. Yes, I do love her so very much, she is my Eternal companion, sealed up for all the eternities to her and you children, what a wonderful promise.
Thank you my son, my namesake. May you also have this beautiful promise also. You are a great Dad and husband. Stay True!
Love you,
Dad
